Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing came out 20 years ago today. At the time people worried that the subject matter might stir rational tension but I didn't. President Obama took Michelle to see it on their first date. But fuck all that - Burrell plays a wise arse that sits on the street pouring scorn on the youth of today and opposing the firebombing of the Korean store, if only such nobility followed him up the ladder in the Baltimore police department.
